The Inclusive Development Index places equal weight on three pillars – growth, inclusion, and intergenerational equity. The first pillar captures four metrics of economic growth and development, the second pillar includes four measures of social inclusion, and the third pillar incorporates four indicators of intertemporal equity and sustainability.
You can also build your own index by weighting any of these pillars more strongly relative to the others. Doing so recalculates the rankings accordingly, and shows some hypothetical scenarios if levels of economic development were measured in alternative ways.
